FreshformFreshform

Train hard on the days your body is ready.

Freshform turns your Apple Watch data into a readiness score each morning, and scores every workout by heart rate, golf included.

It runs entirely on your iPhone, with no account. Pro is also available as a one-time purchase.

Six weeks of training load drawn as relief: steeper means more change.

01 · Morning

The morning check

You get one number and the reasons for it. The charts are there if you want them.

Recovery screen: 7 h 5 min asleep, 55 min short of an 8 h need, sleep stages, stress indicator 48, moderate
Last night7 h 5 min asleep, 55 minutes short of your need, and a stress estimate from heart rate variability and resting heart rate.
Trends screen: fitness, fatigue and form over three months, and running statistics
The long viewFitness, fatigue and form over three months, so a hard block and the easy week after it both show up.

Your first readiness score appears after three nights with your Watch.

02 · Apple Watch

Doesn't my Watch already do this?

watchOS shows a training load based on how hard you rate your workouts, and your overnight vitals. Freshform adds what they leave out: one readiness score each morning from heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep and training form, your sleep debt, and a load computed from heart rate for every workout, golf included.

03 · Golf

Golf counts.

Four hours and twelve kilometres on the course is real load. Freshform scores a round on the same heart-rate scale as a run, so a tournament weekend shows up in your fatigue and Monday's readiness takes it into account.

What it calculates

Readiness
A score from 0 to 100 from heart rate variability, resting heart rate and sleep, each compared with your own recent baseline, plus your training form.
Training load
How hard each workout was, from the time spent in each heart-rate zone (TRIMP). The same scale for a run, a ride, a gym session or 18 holes.
Fitness, fatigue, form
Your load over the last six weeks compared with the last week. When fatigue runs well above fitness, Freshform tells you.
Recovery
Sleep and sleep debt, bedtime regularity, overnight breathing rate, blood oxygen and wrist temperature, and blood pressure readings from the Health app.
Food and water
Scan barcodes, several at once if you like, and add a glass of water from the Home Screen widget.
Coach
Ask about your training in your own words. Apple's on-device language model answers, using your numbers.
On your wrist
The same score in the Apple Watch app and as a complication on your watch face.

05 · Data

Your data stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Freshform reads Apple Health and does every calculation on the device. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising. It writes to Apple Health only the food and water you log yourself.

The one thing that leaves your iPhone is a barcode number, when you look up a product in the public Open Food Facts database.

Why I built it

The training apps I used before all ran on a cloud backend. My heart rate, my sleep and my workouts went to servers somewhere, and I never really knew where my data lived or who could see it.

So I built Freshform the other way round. It reads Apple Health and does every calculation on the iPhone and the Watch. There is no account and no server, so there is nothing to wonder about.
